Drivers must be more careful in such conditions due to reduced visibility. Making sure your tyres are rain-ready is an extremely important box for you to tick.<\/p>\n<h3>Check your treads<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Make sure your tyre tread does not reach 1mm or less (South Africa\u2019s legal limit) because it could result in:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your tyre(s) bursting or being punctured whilst driving.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0A negative impact on your ability to brake properly.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Your vehicle getting stuck in places that require an adequate amount of tyre traction to get out of.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Get some air. The right amount<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Check your car\u2019s manual or the sticker usually found on the inside of the driver\u2019s door to check how much air your tyres need.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under-inflating your tyres can result in them bursting due to rolling resistance and will also increase your fuel consumption.<\/li>\n<li>Over-inflating your tyres will make them more vulnerable to punctures and (because there is less contact with the road surface) will negatively impact your road handling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Be aligned<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Making sure your wheels are properly aligned will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduce the rapid and uneven wear of your tyres.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that your car travels straight in reduced visibility (i.e. thick fog and mist).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With spring in full-swing and summer slowly approaching, seasonal changes and wet weather will soon be a common occurrence.
